Description

Come along with us as we explore a short section of the 327-mile Mid State Trail, walk through the 250-foot-long Poe Mountain Tunnel, and explore the world-famous trout waters of Penn’s Creek. Originally part of the Lewisburg and Tyrone Railroad, the Paddy Mountain Tunnel was in service from around 1880 to 1970 and is now used for outdoor recreation. Co-led by a DCNR Environmental Education Specialist, on our hike we’ll cross Penn’s Creek on a footbridge, go through the tunnel, and enjoy the wide, flat, even terrain on the other side. Along the way, we’ll learn human use history of the area while observing birds, plants, trees, and other species that live along this section of Penn’s Creek.
