Description
From tiny wonders like moss and fungi to massive boulders and streams flowing through it all, this trail will showcase the awe-inspiring wild characteristics you can expect to see throughout Rothrock State Forest.
As the primary gateway to the 96,975-acre Rothrock State Forest, Galbraith Gap offers an immersive outdoor experience for hikers, mountain bikers, and nature enthusiasts alike. A network of scenic nature trails and gravel roads winds through a lush, mossy landscape, passing alongside the gently flowing Galbraith Gap Run and weaving between enormous rock formations and boulders as large as cars. Casual visitors can enjoy the accessible Galbraith Gap Trail, where close observation reveals tiny forest wonders like mushrooms and moss, while experienced riders can challenge themselves on the Rothrock TrailMix—an IMBA-designated “Epic” 36‑mile loop with over 4,000 feet of elevation gain and demanding technical terrain.

How to Prepare for Your Outing
Required Items:
- Sturdy, closed‑toe shoes for all outings
- A filled water bottle (at least 32 oz per adult)
- Please note: Most sites do not have water‑filling stations, so bring all the water you’ll need.
Recommended Items:
- Sun protection: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and lightweight long sleeves
- Insect protection: insect repellent, long sleeves, and/or long pants
Reschedule Policy
Because of the frequency and nature of our wellness sessions, adventure hikes, and guided outings, we are unable to reschedule these events. For special-topic programs, we will make every effort to reschedule when possible. If a special-topic event is postponed, participants will be notified with updated details as soon as they are available.
All programs are held rain or shine. In the event of a cancellation for severe weather, registrants will be contacted by email and/or phone, and it will be announced on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
