Be A Junior Naturalist!

Join any Centred Outdoors outing and borrow one of our Jr. Naturalist toolkits to take on your adventure! Inside you’ll find all the tools and guides you need to be a real Naturalist.

Discover plants, animals, insects, or anything else you find on the trail. Record your observations, take pictures, and share what you find! Our event leaders will show you how to use everything contained in the backpacks, and you’ll learn so much more about the natural world at every Centred Outdoors destination!

Inspecting

Insects and small creatures rarely sit still long enough for a good look. This toolkit gives your child the tools to safely get up close, examining insects and other small finds before releasing them back where they belong.

Observing

Some of nature’s best details only show up when you slow down and look closely. These tools help your child take a closer look at what they find on the trail, with ideas on the back of the card for putting them to use.

Drawing

Nature journaling turns a walk into something your child will remember. These tools let them sketch and
take notes on what they discover along the way, whether they draw freely or follow the prompts on the
back of the sheet.

Protecting

Caring for the land starts with small habits. This toolkit introduces your child to simple ways to protect nature, on the trail and at home, building the kind of everyday awareness that sticks.

Recording

Scientists take notes and pictures to remember what they find and share it with others. This toolkit lets your child do the same on today’s hike, documenting their discoveries using the ideas on the back of the sheet or their own approach.

Exploring

Nature hides a lot in plain sight. These tools help your child slow down and really search, spotting plants, animals, insects, and colors along the trail they might otherwise walk right past.

Toolkit prizes

After the hike, return the toolkit, get your child’s passport stamped, and take home a prize to keep the adventure going at home!
