Description
Join Centred Outdoors and Centre County Disc Golf Association to learn the fundamentals of disc golf: how to grip and throw, the basic rules of play, and how to navigate a hole. From there, the group will play a self-guided round on Penn’s Prairie Disc Golf Course, putting the fundamentals into practice with CCDGA volunteers available throughout for questions and encouragement. The event is designed for complete beginners, and no prior experience is needed. Not everyone will finish all 9 holes in the time available, and that’s perfectly fine. The goal is aim is to have fun, enjoy the fresh air, and get a first taste of the sport.
The course is at the very back of the park — follow the Centred Outdoors signs to find us!
Open to everyone ages 12 and older. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration will open one week in advance at 8am.
About CCDGA
The Centre County Disc Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit staffed solely by volunteers dedicated to growing disc golf in Centre County. They build and maintain free, public disc golf courses, run recreational leagues and tournaments, and host beginner clinics to make the sport accessible to everyone. Their home course is Harvest Fields DGC in Boalsburg, and they also manage Penn’s Prairie DGC and Wilderness City DGC in Philipsburg.
What to Wear and Bring
Comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activity and walking on natural terrain. As the course features long grass on the edges of the holes, long pants may be desirable to retrieve discs thrown into the grass. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended; athletic shoes or trail shoes are ideal. Participants may want to bring a small bag to carry their discs: a drawstring bag, tote, satchel, or anything similar works perfectly. A water bottle is also recommended. No disc golf equipment is needed.
