SUMMARY:Adventure Hike: Mount Nittany
DESCRIPTION:Join us on a challenge to experience one of the most famous landmarks in Happy Valley! This Adventure Hike begins with a difficult 700-foot climb to the top of the mountain\, before transitioning to mellow\, rolling trails with fantastic views at the top\, and ending with a rocky descent back to the parking area. While hiking\, we’ll learn about trail building\, maintenance\, and erosion issues along with the history of Mt. Nittany\, the Mt. Nittany Conservancy\, and the surrounding valleys. We’ll also try to visit 6 of the 7 vistas located on this property!  \nDownload the mapped route here: Mt. Nittany 2026 \n\nParking Details\nParking Information: Mt. Nittany Trailhead Parking Lot\, 421 Mount Nittany Road\, Lemont\, PA 16851. From Pike Street in Lemont\, follow Mt. Nittany Road eastbound and upwards for 0.6 miles. Follow the signs and turn right to park in the large gravel lot signed\, “Mt. Nittany Trailhead Parking”. \n\nHike Details\nDifficulty: difficult \nHike Distance (miles): 5 miles \nElevation: 900 feet \n\nHow to Prepare for Your Outing\nRequired Items: \n\nSturdy\, closed‑toe shoes for all outings\nA filled water bottle (at least 32 oz per adult)\n\nPlease note: Most sites do not have water‑filling stations\, so bring all the water you’ll need.\n\n\n\nRecommended Items: \n\nSun protection: sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses\, and lightweight long sleeves\nInsect protection: insect repellent\, long sleeves\, and/or long pants\n\n\nReschedule Policy\nBecause of the frequency and nature of our wellness sessions\, adventure hikes\, and guided outings\, we are unable to reschedule these events. SUMMARY:Wellness Wednesday: Gratitude Walk
DESCRIPTION:To wrap up the Fall Season of Centred Outdoors\, join Program Coordinator\, Olivia Stas\, to slow down\, connect with community\, and offer gratitude to the natural world around us. The group will be taking an easy walk through the trails of the Boal Mansion with various stops along the way. Olivia will be pulling inspiration from the teachings of Robin Wall Kimmerer and sharing excerpts from the Thanksgiving Address\, a traditional message of gratitude from the Haudenosaunee.  \nRegistration is required and opens one week in advance! \nAbout the Presenter\nOlivia helps to coordinate ClearWater’s outreach and education efforts through our Centred Outdoors Program. She seeks to empower individuals and communities in the outdoor space and teaches the importance of environmental conservation through a variety of free\, guided programs in the Centre Region. \nOriginally from Southwest Pennsylvania\, Olivia has lived in Centre County since starting school at Penn State in 2014. \n\nShe graduated in 2018 with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology. Her passion for connecting our health to the natural world has carved a unique career path where she has gained experience in environmental education\, early childhood education\, public programming\, community building\, and outdoor recreation programming. \nIn her free time\, she enjoys gardening\, connecting with loved ones\, and exploring the Earth’s beauty on foot\, bike\, or boat.
