DESCRIPTION:From tiny wonders like moss and fungi to massive boulders and streams flowing through it all\, this trail will showcase the awe-inspiring wild characteristics you can expect to see throughout Rothrock State Forest. \nAs the primary gateway to the 96\,975-acre Rothrock State Forest\, Galbraith Gap offers an immersive outdoor experience for hikers\, mountain bikers\, and nature enthusiasts alike. A network of scenic nature trails and gravel roads winds through a lush\, mossy landscape\, passing alongside the gently flowing Galbraith Gap Run and weaving between enormous rock formations and boulders as large as cars. Casual visitors can enjoy the accessible Galbraith Gap Trail\, where close observation reveals tiny forest wonders like mushrooms and moss\, while experienced riders can challenge themselves on the Rothrock TrailMix—an IMBA-designated “Epic” 36‑mile loop with over 4\,000 feet of elevation gain and demanding technical terrain. \n\nParking Details\nParking Information: Galbraith Gap Parking Area on Bear Meadows Road \n\nHike Details\nDifficulty: Moderate \nHike Distance (miles): 1.25 \nElevation: 115 ft \n\nHow to Prepare for Your Outing\nRequired Items: \n\nSturdy\, closed‑toe shoes for all outings\nA filled water bottle (at least 32 oz per adult)\nPlease note: Most sites do not have water‑filling stations\, so bring all the water you’ll need.\n\nRecommended Items: \n\nSun protection: sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses\, and lightweight long sleeves\nInsect protection: insect repellent\, long sleeves\, and/or long pants\n\n\nReschedule Policy \nBecause of the frequency and nature of our wellness sessions\, adventure hikes\, and guided outings\, we are unable to reschedule these events.
