SUMMARY:Adventure Hike: Bear Meadows Loop
DESCRIPTION:Discover Bear Meadows Natural Area – a national natural landmark due to its exceptional value wetland environment. This trail winds through towering forests\, surrounds a rare wetland\, and passes through walls of rhododendron. Bear Meadows was recently added to the national old-growth forest network because it protects an entire high mountain fen wetland\, which is a unique\, rare ecosystem in Pennsylvania. Hiking in a wetland environment offers the chance to see all sorts of waterfowl\, wildlife\, and plants. See you there! \nDownload the mapped route here: Bear Meadows \n\nParking Details\nParking Information: gravel lot adjacent to the Jean Aron Path trailhead\, at the intersection of Bear Meadows and North Meadows Road. There are no bathroom facilities near the trailhead\, so plan accordingly or stop at the facilities in the Galbraith Gap parking lot. \n\nHike Details\nDifficulty: moderate \nHike Distance (miles): 3.5 miles \nElevation: 100 feet \n\nHow to Prepare for Your Outing\nRequired Items: \n\nSturdy\, closed‑toe shoes for all outings\nA filled water bottle (at least 32 oz per adult)\n\nPlease note: Most sites do not have water‑filling stations\, so bring all the water you’ll need.\n\n\n\nRecommended Items: \n\nSun protection: sunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses\, and lightweight long sleeves\nInsect protection: insect repellent\, long sleeves\, and/or long pants\n\n\nReschedule Policy\nBecause of the frequency and nature of our wellness sessions\, adventure hikes\, and guided outings\, we are unable to reschedule these events.
